Stars Soccer Review
magazine would like to thank you for your
continued support and valuable feedback. We are
confident that our diverse coverage will make
SSR a one of a kind soccer/football magazine in
not just CONCACAF, but in the world.
Our "What to
Expect" articles are based on our ability to
deliver on the button forecasting on current and
upcoming soccer developments in the football
world. We will remain objective
with our coverage by comparing the level of play
in CONCACAF region to that of the other
football regions in the world via FIFA
tournaments.
As a Canadian
organization with original
Caribbean football roots, we consider our insights as second to
none, based on our English
football background with close attention and
admiration for the Brazilian brand of football.
In
this Volume 3 we have added to our list of
knowledgeable writers, with Ron Fanfair of Share
Newspaper, Vijay Setlur of concacaf.com and
Marcos Serioux, a football Consultant with Base
Soccer. These writers have given the magazine
variation in our style of coverage and presentation.
There is no doubt that Canada professional
soccer is on the up and up, due to the
competitiveness of the newly instituted
Nutrilite Canadian Championship which was implemented by
the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA). The
round robin Nutrilite tournament is amongst Toronto FC,
Vancouver Whitecaps and the defending champions
(2007) Montreal Impact.
"We've got it Covered" is another section added
to the magazine. It gives a bulls eye view of
the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Trinidad and
Tobago in which Costa Rica won and from what we
have seen at the competition, there is no
doubt that tournaments of its kind will help the
development of the youth game in the region.
SSR
Volume 3 also covers the rematch of the 2006 FIFA W-C Germany
Group B game between Trinidad and Tobago and
England in Port of Spain, Trinidad, billed as a
Score to Settle". What we discovered was that David Beckham came back from injury to captain
the England team which sent Trinidad and Tobago football "Back
to the Basics".
Since joining the MLS, Toronto FC management
showed the vision and cultivated the best fans
in the MLS. However, in the offseason TFC signed
home-town boys, Dwayne De Rosario, and Adrian
Serioux in its push to make the playoffs.
Stars Soccer Review would like to thanks MPP
Margarett Best for her support and contribution
to Volume 3. MPP Best has replaced Mary Ann
Chambers in the Scarborough-Guildwood riding
and in our magazine. MPP Best health promotion initiative, is in tune
with our Back to Basics theme of Volume 3. Mrs. Chambers retired
from politics at the end of her term in 2007.
